The ultimate gift of organ donation

Are you a registered organ donor? I believe very strongly that this is a simple thing that we can do in death for the sake of another person, another family. Organ donation saves lives. I would seriously hope that if one of my kids needed an organ and I could not give it to them that because of someone else's kindness and grace my child would be able to live. When I die, I want to be able to do that for someone else. Certainly when you die, you aren't going to need your organs in Heaven, the afterlife or whatever you believe in. I have researched this and in my opinion, it is the best thing that we can do. It is a way to help save a life, but it is also a small way for part of you to go on in someone else. The link below is to a site that allows you to register to be an organ donor, because sometimes it just being on your drivers license is not enough. Please give it some thought.

I am honestly not registered and if I'm being honest I probably won't. The entire thought of facing my own mortality has scared the living crap out of me. I finally made a will a few months ago for no other reason than the thought of my inlaws fightingand possibly winning the right to raise my children scared me to pieces. I have people in charge of my medical decisions that I trust would do what my heart would want. That includes donating my organs. My husband, my parents...they both know what a great thing I feel it is and my own hang ups. Is that a start???

Christina,
That is an awesome start!
I do not have a will, but have been seriously thinking about it lately. I don't think I can say that I have a problem with my own mortality. As far as the will goes, I want that, because the thought of what will happen to my kids also is making me think about this. And I registered with this site (and have the card in my wallet by my liscense) mostly because if some thing were to hapen to me, because I am not technically married, my mother does not believe in organ donation for whatever her reasons are, and even though we do not really talk, I would hate to think that my parents would be in control of what happened regarding that issue, becasue my kids are too young.
I have spoke to my oldest child about this and he knows that this is what I would want, but he's only 12, well, almost 13 right now. Still too young that I think someone would allow him to have final say.
But I think that you are off to a great start by having people that you trust know your wishes.
